Perform grooms on cross breed dogs

Application

This unit of competency describes the skills and knowledge required to prepare and groom the different coat types that occur in cross breed dogs. It covers selecting and safely applying appropriate grooming techniques, including scissoring and clipping, for different coat types.

The unit applies to individuals working in the companion animal industry sector where grooming services of cross breed dogs are provided. They work independently and take responsibility for the quality of their own work, including carrying out assigned tasks, selecting products and techniques, solving problems and working to required timeframes.

All work must be carried out to comply with workplace procedures according to Commonwealth and state/territory health and safety and animal welfare regulations, legislation and standards that apply to the workplace.
