This unit of competency describes the skills and knowledge required to groom the different coat types that occur in cat breeds. It assumes a working knowledge of basic pet first aid and cat behaviour and handling.
The unit applies to individuals who work in the companion animal industry sector where cat-specific grooming services are provided for hygiene and welfare purposes. They take responsibility for their own work and, where relevant, the outcomes of others. They analyse information, solve problems and exercise judgement to complete a range of skilled activities and demonstrate in-depth knowledge in a specific technical area.
All work must be carried out to comply with workplace procedures according to Commonwealth and state/territory health and safety and animal welfare regulations, legislation and standards that apply to the workplace.
No licensing, legislative or certification requirements apply to this unit at the time of publication.
