This unit of competency describes the skills and knowledge required to plan and manage the operations, facilities and resources of a feedlot facility.
This unit applies to feedlot managers who are responsible for operational planning, managing the health and welfare of stock, managing staff, the maintenance and upkeep of the facility, movement of livestock and for the overall performance of the business.
All work must be carried out to comply with workplace procedures according to state/territory health and safety and animal welfare regulations, legislation and standards that apply to the workplace.
Most Australian feedlots are licensed under the National Feedlot Accreditation Scheme (NFAS), and feedlot managers are required to meet the requirements of this accreditation.
