This unit of competency describes the skills and knowledge required to check and remove foreign matter from processing by-products intended to be sent to rendering.
The unit applies to individuals in a food processing premises who have responsibility for ensuring that processing by-products to be sent to rendering meet the renderer’s specifications. They follow a monitoring schedule and may be required to either personally remove or arrange for the removal of identified foreign matter.
All work must be carried out to comply with workplace procedures, according to state/territory health and safety regulations, legislation and standards that apply to the workplace.
