This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to carry out metal finishing, incorporating heat shrinking, to repair vehicle body panels. This unit involves preparing for the task, selecting and using specialist tools and equipment, setting an oxyacetylene plant, panel beating and file finishing vehicle panels to pre-paint condition without using body fillers, and completing workplace processes and documentation.
The unit applies to those working in the automotive body repair industry. It does not cover aluminium panels.
