Work effectively in child protection to support children, young people and families

Application

This unit describes the performance outcomes, skills and knowledge required by child protection workers to support children and young people, and to assist families to ensure that children and young people are safe and appropriately cared for. It also covers the ethical, duty of care and legal requirements for this work.

This unit applies to work undertaken in paraprofessional child protection occupations in government and non-government organisations.

The skills in this unit must be applied in accordance with Commonwealth and State or Territory legislation, Australian standards and industry codes of practice.

No occupational licensing, certification or specific legislative requirements apply to this unit at the time of publication.
