Interpret and apply building control legislation when assessing large-scale buildings for access

Application

This unit of competency specifies the skills and knowledge required to research, interpret and apply building accessibility legislation when assessing the accessibility of large-scale buildings. Large-scale buildings are buildings of any class as defined in the National Construction Code (NCC) and which exceed 2,000 square metres in floor area. The unit includes interpreting and evaluating the Australian common law system and various sources of law applicable to the accessibility of large-scale building developments and analysing and applying professional codes of practice for the assessment and inspection of buildings.

This unit is for individuals who are self-directed and have substantial depth of knowledge and skills to make independent judgements in the provision of access consulting services.
