Apply performance-based codes and risk management principles when assessing buildings for access

Application

This unit of competency specifies the skills and knowledge required to apply performance-based codes and risk assessment and risk management principles to accessibility features of buildings. It includes comparing proposed performance solutions to the prescriptive deemed-to-satisfy (DTS) requirement of the National Construction Code (NCC) and other requirements of relevant legislation, regulations and standards for the provision of access for people with disability, and summarising assessment results in a report which may be considered by an Access Panel.

This unit is for access consultants who use their broad theoretical and technical skills and knowledge to analyse information, provide advice and devise solutions to sometimes complex access problems in compliance with regulatory requirements for the provision of access for people with disability.
