Conduct functional tests on fire detection, warning and intercommunication devices
Application
This unit of competency specifies the skills and knowledge required to complete routine yearly inspection, testing and preventive maintenance procedures to verify that fire detection, warning and intercommunication devices are functioning as intended. It includes working safely to isolate plant and interfaces, conduct tests, visually inspect, identify non-compliance defects, fulfil mandatory reporting requirements and reset fire control and indicating equipment (CIE). Service activities are conducted in compliance with requirements of the relevant Australian Standards and National Construction Code (NCC).
The unit does not cover any installation, replacement, maintenance or repair functions that are restricted to licensed trades or occupations.
The unit is suitable for those with basic skills and knowledge undertaking routine work tasks under the direction of more experienced workers.
