Identify and respond to hazards and emergencies in waste management
Application
This unit specifies the skills and knowledge required to identify, control and report hazards and risks, and recognise and respond to emergencies at a waste management site ensuring compliance with legal responsibilities. It includes implementing and monitoring emergency response procedures involving evacuation, isolation and containment, and communicating with others to convey emergency information, and to receive and follow instructions to assist the response. It also includes assisting site clean-up and documenting emergency and response details.
This unit does not cover emergencies involving vehicle contact with overhead wires.
A person who achieves this unit of competency is expected to take responsibility for completing these tasks with a high degree of self-direction.
