This unit specifies the skills and knowledge required to store and monitor contained waste. It includes assessing waste types and volume to maximise storage space and maintain containment. It also includes monitoring stored waste to check integrity of containment, manage hazards, risks and non-conformances, maintain quality and prevent contamination, spillage and unauthorised access to the facility.

A person who achieves this unit of competency is expected to take responsibility for completing these tasks with a high degree of self-direction.
