CUAHAZ405
Perform hazardous action sequences
Application
This unit describes the skills and knowledge required for safe execution of hazardous action sequences using different elements, equipment and processes during screen productions. It involves preparing for the execution of hazardous action sequences, setting up production areas, testing and performing hazardous action sequences, responding to emergency situations as required and securing the location at the conclusion of the sequence.
The unit applies to recognised hazardous action performers who work under strict guidance of stunt coordinators, armourers, screen safety officers, fight directors and animal handlers. They are responsible for ensuring set-up, rehearsal, performance and review of hazardous action activities and complying with creative direction, screen safety reports and industry codes of practice. They are also responsible for ensuring all aspects of action sequences they perform minimise risk to themselves and other cast and crew members.
Industry-graded stunt performers require a broad range of licences, certificates and gradings. Check with the Media, Entertainment & Arts Alliance (MEAA) for other specific requirements.
