Care for crocodiles over 1.2 metres in a controlled environment
Application
This unit of competency describes the skills and knowledge required to care for crocodiles over 1.2 metres in a controlled environment. While it relates mostly to saltwater crocodiles, it may entail caring for other crocodile group species (alligators, caimans, crocodiles and gharials).
The unit applies to individuals who care for crocodiles on farms, wildlife parks or research facilities.
All work must be carried out to comply with workplace procedures, according to state/territory health and safety, biosecurity and environmental regulations, legislation and standards that apply to the workplace.
No licensing, legislative or certification requirements apply to this unit at the time of publication. Licences or permits may be required for the use of firearms or restricted drugs on crocodiles or if operating vehicles.
