Identify the function and structure of skin and hair for cosmetic tattooing

Application

This unit describes the performance outcomes, skills and knowledge required to apply knowledge of anatomy and physiology of the skin and hair to cosmetic tattooing treatments.

It requires ability to use credible sources to research information on skin anatomy and physiology and apply this to cosmetic tattooing in order to determine type of treatment, identify adverse effects and contraindications, and select appropriate post-treatment service and advice.

This unit applies to cosmetic tattooists who work in salons or clinics where cosmetic tattoos are provided on face or body.

The skills in this unit must be applied in accordance with Commonwealth and State or Territory legislation, Australian standards and industry codes of practice.

No occupational licensing, certification or specific legislative requirements apply to this unit at the time of publication.
