This unit involves the skills and knowledge required to plan a mobile crane lift operation prior to positioning and setting up a mobile crane.

It includes obtaining and confirming job instructions and work specifications, coordinating the loading of gear and equipment, assessing job requirements of work areas, designing operational plan and setting up work area.

Work is performed with limited or minimum supervision.

People achieving competence in this unit must hold the relevant high risk work licence prior to undertaking mobile crane operation, dogging or rigging work.

Work must be carried out in compliance with the relevant state/territory authority mobile crane operations licence/permit requirements and regulations, codes of practice, rules and/or guidelines.
