This unit involves the skills and knowledge required to operate specialised light load shifting equipment.
It includes planning work for current working conditions; using controls and equipment operating systems to manage moving a unit and accessory operations; locating load and identifying load characteristics; moving materials and loads; monitoring and operating controls; and stopping, parking and securing equipment after operation in accordance with relevant state and/or territory codes, licence and/or permit and workplace requirements and regulations in the stevedoring, transport, warehousing and/or logistics industries.
Safety checks and equipment tests are performed under limited supervision.
Where the specialised light load shifting equipment operated is considered to be high-risk work, the operator must hold a high-risk work licence.
