This unit involves the skills and knowledge required to prepare cargo for transfer with slings.

It includes preparing for cargo transfer, calculating safe working load (SWL) or working load limit (WLL) of slings and loads, slinging and unslinging cargo, and strapping and unstrapping goods in accordance with workplace requirements and relevant regulatory requirements, within the transport and logistics industry.

People achieving competence in this unit will need to fulfil the applicable state and/or territory legislated high-risk work licence requirements and to comply with relevant codes of practice and/or guidelines.

Safety checks and equipment tests are performed under limited supervision.
