Application

This unit involves the skills and knowledge required to develop low risk motorcycle riding behaviours in others.

It includes demonstrating applicable low risk motorcycle riding rules, regulations and strategies to motorcycle riders, delivering training on low risk motorcycle riding principles and monitoring and maintaining low risk motorcycle riding behaviours of motorcycle riders. It also includes evaluating riders on their low risk motorcycle riding competence, reviewing evaluation of rider low risk motorcycle riding competence, dealing with behavioural barriers to learning, developing motorcycle operation and control skills, and interpreting and applying regulatory requirements and road law expertise.

It also includes developing higher order cognitive and technical skills such as hazard perception, correctly reading a motorcycle riding environment and responding appropriately, exercising risk management strategies that contribute to low risk motorcycle riding behaviours, and meeting community expectations.

This unit applies to motorcycle riding instructors.

Work is performed without supervision. Developing low risk motorcycle riding behaviours in others involves the application of learning principles of different cohorts, instructional methods, training competence and experience, higher order motorcycle rider expertise, navigation skills, road law expertise, routine procedures and regulatory requirements across a range of operational situations and a variety of riding contexts.
