This unit involves the skills and knowledge required to assess the gas and safety equipment on a delivery vehicle for the distribution of industrial gases in accordance with relevant legislation, codes of practice, regulations and workplace procedures.

It includes assessing and testing gas and safety equipment on delivery vehicles by identifying faults, using workplace operating procedures, liaising with appropriate persons, and conducting inspections and tests.

This unit applies to worksites where the bulk distribution of industrial gas occurs using delivery vehicles, and subject to workplace safety and duty of care requirements being met for the workplace.

This unit is intended as an entry-level unit, for new entrants in the gas industry. It is suitable for employment-based programs.
