UEPOPS011

Conduct multiple energy source isolation procedures for permit to work

Application

This unit involves the skills and knowledge required for the application of permit to work procedures where multiple energy sources require isolation for safe access to high voltage (HV), low voltage (LV) and mechanical apparatus.

Permits to work are a formal system used to control high-risk activities in power generation facilities. They specify the control measures that will be put in place to minimise risks. Permits ensure that all hazards and precautions have been considered before any hazardous work begins.

Competency in this unit requires the ability to plan and prepare for isolation, de-isolation and restoration; perform isolation and perform de-isolation and restoration. Individuals will, in general, work as an operator in a power generation facility.

Power generation plant operators are trained and authorised to isolate, prepare plant and issue permits to work.

No licensing, legislative or certification requirements apply to this unit at the time of publication.
