UEPOPS049
Manage critical incidents
Application
This unit involves the skills and knowledge required to undertake the management of incidents of a critical nature that may impact the operational effectiveness of a power generation facility’s plant or system. It may include endangering human life, damaging or destroying property or adversely impacting the environment.
A critical incident refers to an event that may result in a high level of risk, directly or indirectly, to the core operations of a power generation facility. The level of risk is determined using the risk management processes outlined in the power generation facility’s risk management system.
Competency in this unit requires the ability to identify a crisis, implement contingency and critical incident plans, establish communications, manage critical incident documents and review critical incident response. Individuals will, in general, work as an operator with responsibility for risk management, in a power generation facility.
Power generation plant operators are trained and authorised to isolate, prepare plant and issue permits to work.
No licensing, legislative or certification requirements apply to this unit at the time of publication.
