Manage work health and safety policy and procedures
Application
This unit involves the skills and knowledge required to manage the identification of hazards and the assessment and control of risks associated with generating plant and equipment.
Work health and safety (WHS)/occupational health and safety (OHS) is concerned with protecting the wellbeing of all workplace stakeholders from exposure to hazards and risks resulting from activities in power generation facilities. It involves the assessment and mitigation of risks that can cause short- and long-term harm.
Competency in this unit requires the ability to identify hazards, analyse and manage WHS/OHS risks, implement and manage procedures for identifying risks, recommend controls for hazards, identify and manage licensing and certification issues, and review and evaluate risk control measures. Individuals will, in general, work as operators with responsibility for WHS/OHS, in a power generation facility.
No licensing, legislative or certification requirements apply to this unit at the time of publication.
